| Software Technology Parks of India was established in 1991 and registered as an Autonomous Society under the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and Information Technology. STPI was set-up to implement the STP Scheme and to promote software exports by providing infrastructure facilities including High Speed Data Communication (HSDC) links. The overall exports increased from Rs 215264 crore in 2010-11 to Rs 226712 crore in 2011-12. STP Scheme, which is a 100% export oriented scheme, has attracted many entrepreneurs in the area of software and services. As on 31st March 2012, 5235 units were operative out of which 4542 units have exported software in FY 2011-12. |
